Studying Baking in Another State
We found no tuition-exchange program that lowers out-of-state rates for Oklahoma residents in baking certificate or associate degree programs. Oklahoma takes part in the Academic Common Market, but the State Regents say it covers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs only.
The nearest verified baking and pastry programs are on the Texas, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Colorado pages. Compare non-resident rates carefully, because some community colleges charge out-of-state students two or three times the local rate.
A few schools teach baking coursework online, with students baking at home and finishing with an in-person externship. The online baking schools page lists those programs.
Programs No Longer Listed
Platt College, which offered a Pastry Arts diploma alongside culinary arts at its Oklahoma campuses, has closed. Tulsa Community College, Oklahoma City Community College, and Rose State College list no culinary or baking program. Carl Albert State College offers an applied technology degree with a culinary arts option for technology center graduates, with no baking courses of its own.
